Financial accounts of the Spanish economy (FASE). Quarterly release

The Financial Accounts of the Spanish Economy (FASE) constitute an integrated statistical system, within the framework of the national accounts, that describes the financial dimension of the economic activity of resident sectors. They provide, for each institutional sector, information on positions in financial assets and liabilities and net positions at a given point in time, as well as on their changes over time.

The statistics offer a detailed view of the financial interaction between the different sectors, through information on positions and transactions broken down by resident counterpart sectors, as well as vis-à-vis the rest of the world. The information is presented in a homogeneous manner by institutional sectors and subsectors and by types of financial instruments, reflecting the dual asset–liability nature of financial transactions and positions.

The conceptual framework is the same as that used in the financial account of the Balance of Payments and in the International Investment Position, with which it forms a coherent set of statistics, although small numerical differences may arise in practice. Compilation is based on multiple statistical, administrative and accounting sources and is carried out in coordination with the rest of the National Accounts produced by the National Statistics Institute.
