Non-MMF investment funds. Outstanding amounts and financial transactions

This dataset provides detailed information on the contribution of investment funds resident in Spain to the euro area investment fund statistics, within the framework of the monetary and financial statistics compiled by the Banco de España. The reference institutional scope comprises investment funds (S.124 of the European System of Accounts – ESA), disaggregated by their investment policy - equity funds, fixed-income funds, mixed funds, real estate funds, hedge funds and other funds - as well as the aggregate of all investment policies.

The information shows the financial position and transactions of investment funds through balance sheet and flow variables, including outstanding amounts, financial transactions, subscriptions and redemptions. These figures are presented for the total balance sheet and for the main asset and liability items, such as debt securities, shares and other equity, investment fund units, deposits, non-financial assets and other assets and liabilities.

From a geographical perspective, the data make it possible to distinguish the residence of the counterparty, differentiating between the total, residents, the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and the rest of the world (non-EMU), thus providing a comprehensive view of the national and international exposure of investment funds. All series are expressed in euros, regardless of the original currency of the transaction, ensuring the homogeneity of the aggregates.

This dataset constitutes an essential source for monitoring non-bank financial intermediation, analysing the structure and evolution of savings channelled through investment funds, and assessing their role in financial markets. Its integration into European statistics enhances the transparency and comparability of the information, facilitating its use by analysts, researchers and economic policymakers at both national and international levels.
