Identifier: BDE-D-000022
This dataset compiles statistical information on the financial position of securities dealers resident in Spain, classified within the sub-sector of Other Financial Intermediaries (S.125) of the European System of Accounts (ESA), and on their contribution to the aggregated euro area statistics. The series describe the balance sheet structure of these entities in terms of end-of-period balances.
The main variables in the dataset are organised around the major balance sheet items. On the asset side, they include positions in deposits and loans, debt securities, equity holdings, investment fund units, financial derivatives and other assets. On the liability side, items such as loans, capital and reserves, financial derivatives and other liabilities are recorded.
The information is presented on a quarterly basis and is expressed in euros, regardless of the original currency of the transaction. The geographical scope of reference is Spain as the reporting country, while the counterparty is considered at the total world level, without a breakdown by institutional counterparty sectors. These features facilitate the use of the data in aggregate analyses, time comparisons and studies on the evolution of the financial sector from a macroeconomic perspective.
This statistical dataset forms part of the Banco de España’s financial statistics framework, compiled in line with the methodological principles of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). Its purpose is to contribute to the monitoring of financial stability, the analysis of non-bank financial intermediation and the production of harmonised euro area statistics, in accordance with European standards of quality, consistency and comparability.
