Secondary securities market

On the one hand, it provides information on securities holdings by the main sectors of the national economy, broken down by type of instrument (government debt, covered securities issued by credit institutions, securitisation bonds and shares that are part of the IBEX 35 index). Holdings of debt securities are valued at face value and holdings of equity securities are valued at market value. For certain holder sectors (mainly banks and investment funds) the information is obtained directly from the investors themselves; for other sectors, the information is obtained from custodial institutions.

On the other hand, it includes, among other data, information on public sector debt registered in the central securities depository, figures on yields in the secondary market for government debt and traded amounts, as well as the evolution of stock market indices.
