This statistical dataset provides detailed monthly information on the evolution of revenue, expenditure and financial transactions of the core Central Government, published by the Banco de España.
The data are compiled in accordance with the European System of Accounts (ESA 2010) and are fully consistent with Eurostat’s Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) requirements, ensuring methodological harmonisation and international comparability across the European Union. These statistics enable the analysis of the financial position of the core Central Government, its net lending (+) or net borrowing (–) and the main components of the public deficit. This dataset is a key reference for monitoring the Spanish public finances, supporting fiscal policy analysis and the assessment of compliance with the European fiscal rules.
Key variables include taxes on production and imports (VAT and other taxes), income and wealth taxes, current and capital transfers, interest, and detailed financial transactions, covering financial assets and liabilities such as deposits, debt securities, loans and other financial instruments. In addition, the dataset incorporates indicators related to budget execution and cash-based government accounts, including the cash deficit, net cash revenue and net cash payments.
