State debt according to the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP)

This dataset provides a detailed statistical view of the Core Central Government debt, compiled in accordance with the European System of Accounts (ESA 2010) and the methodology of the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP). It offers the monthly stocks of the Core Central Government debt, with a breakdown by financial instruments, original maturity structure and holder sector.

The dataset includes, among other elements, debt issued in the form of short-term and long-term securities, other EDP debt instruments (currency and deposits and loans) with distinctions by currency of denomination and by holdings of general government, other resident sectors, and the rest of the world. It also provides specific information on the Core Central Government deposits at the Banco de España, including Treasury liquidity auctions, as well as on guarantees granted (contingent liabilities), with separate identification of guarantees granted to other general government units, to European Union financial assistance programmes and to extraordinary measures related to the COVID-19 crisis.

This statistical dataset allows a high frequency monitoring of developments in the Core Central Government public debt, and supports macroeconomic analysis, fiscal surveillance and national and European statistical reporting requirements.
