Central Balance Sheet BExplora provides users with detailed economic and financial information on non-financial corporations in Spain, with a focus on in-depth analysis of business behaviour. This dataset offers a broad and systematic view of firms’ economic and financial conditions, allowing the exploration of key aggregates and economic relationships from different analytical perspectives.

The information is compiled from the Central Balance Sheet Office of the Banco de España, in accordance with the methodological criteria established by this institution and in line with standard practices in European structural business statistics. The institutional coverage encompasses the sector of resident non-financial corporations, and the geographical scope is limited to the Spanish economy as a whole. Data are disseminated exclusively in aggregated form, ensuring the anonymisation of firm-level information and the confidentiality of reporting units.

The dataset includes variables representative of economic activity, business results, financial structure, profitability, indebtedness, employment and employee compensation, enabling comparative and time-series analyses of the productive sector. The availability of both quarterly and annual information facilitates the monitoring of business-cycle developments and the identification of medium-term trends, with a time coverage extending over approximately the last decade.
